The American Idol Season 12 Idol finale was fabulous! And dare I say the best finale since David Archuleta vs. David Cook in Season 7? Yes, it certainly was! Top 2 finalists Kree Harrison and Candice Glover totally nailed it, slayed it, killed it, etc. during their epic Country/Soul vs. R&B/Soul showdown!
Kree’s stirring cover of Sarah McLachlan’s “Angel” was gorgeous, her original song, an emotional country ballad called “All Cried Out”, was outstanding, and her “Up To The Mountain” reprisal was powerfully magnificent! She is a sweet soul with a sweet voice that just captivates your heart.
Candice’s jazzy rendition of Adele’s “Chasing Pavements” was stellar, her single, a self-esteem anthem entitled “I Am Beautiful”, was just that… beautiful, and her “I (Who Have Nothing)” was dramatically dynamic (that a capella beginning was…wow!). The command, the confidence… She was a girl on fire, that’s for sure!
Last night’s performances proved that both of these lovely ladies are supremely talented and deserving of the title. I am still struggling to pick a winner out of the two. While I’ve been predicting Kree for the win all season, I think Candice is the Idol this show has been waiting for. Either way, it’s going to be a really tight race!
I can’t thank these lovely ladies enough for making all of my years of wishing for a Female vs. Female finale completely worth the wait! Way to go, Kree and Candice! You are both winners to me (and for Team Girl Power!)
