On TUNESDAY, I share some of the songs, music videos, and live performances I’ve been groovin’ to. Here are some of my top favourites from October…
Let us accept Candice Glover for who she really is – a superstar!
This week, the Top 6 on American Idol were invited to sing a song they wish they had written, which allowed for the contestants to show the world who they are as artists.
Accepting the challenge, Miss Candice, who has been the most consistent performer to date, completely pulverized the night with a powerful and passionate performance of The Cure’s “Lovesong” (which was also covered by Adele).
It was captivating, exquisite, and best of all, a showcase of Candice’s uniquely mature musicianship and inventively jazzy artistry. Her rendition made me cry and rewarded her with standing ovations from the entire studio audience (you could feel the energy from the television set – amazing!) “Lovesong” was the first true moment of this season and one of the best performances across all of the seasons (and so deserving of Mariah Carey’s glitterbomb blessing!).
Keep on slaying, Candice!
What would a motion picture be without its soundtrack? Songs and sounds serve to amplify silver screen productions with music that evokes emotion, nostalgia, and other sensations in film-goers.

As host LL Cool J said at the opening of the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, the night was about something truly universal and healing – music. Devastated by the passing of Whitney Houston (to whom this year’s ceremony is dedicated to), the music community paid their respects to the late, great vocalist by letting the beat go on. The music-makers celebrated this past year by recognizing the achievements of their fellow artists and by creating some of the finest and most memorable Grammy moments in the show’s history.
These were some of my favourite moments…
I had the honour of seeing the beautiful, bold and big-voiced British songstress Adele perform live at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver on August 9th. The top-selling recording artist’s sold-out, North American tour is the hottest ticket of the summer.
