Phillip Phillips’ “Gone Gone Gone”

One song has the power to completely change your life; that statement certainly rings true for the current American Idol winner, Phillip Phillips!

His success story owes a huge thanks to his quadruple-platinum selling coronation single, “Home“, which is now the best selling song by an Idol alum EVER.

The singer-songwriter has another hit on his hands with “Gone, Gone, Gone“, a moving song about standing by the ones you love through thick and thin.

The second single was selected as the send-off song for the eliminated contestants on Season 12 of Idol; Phillips’ recently gave a live performance of the song on the Top 10 Results show.

With relatable lyrics and an appealing Americana-folk sound, Phillips’ debut album, The World From The Side Of The Moon (available on iTunes), has established the musician’s artistic identity as one that speaks to the authenticity of the human experience.

Your hope dangling by a string
I’ll share in your suffering
To make you well, to make you well…

Girls Rule American Idol Season 12!

Every year, American Idol proclaims that it’s a girl’s year to win, and every year, I’m left feeling disappointed as we watch the female contestants drop one by one (Seasons 9 and 10), and witness a girl falling just short of the title at the grand finale (Seasons 9, 10, AND 11). However, it seems as if the tides have finally turned in Season 12.

For the first time in what feels like forever, the Top 5 girls have remained in tact in the Top 8 of the competition. Even better, three of those girls were named the Top 3 vote-getters during Top 10 week! With this resurgence of recognition and support for female talent, can the show finally find its first girl winner since Season 6’s Jordin Sparks in 2007? I believe so!

Just look at and listen to these five fantastic female contenders – Amber Holcomb, Angie Miller, Candice Glover, Janelle Arthur, and Kree Harrison

David Archuleta Begin

Album Review: David Archuleta’s “BEGIN”

Even though he’s currently on a hiatus from music to fulfill a Mormon mission, David Archuleta‘s presence continues to be felt amongst his devoted fanbase. As a token of his thanks, Archuleta recorded BEGIN., an inspirational album comprised of nine cover songs and one original track (“Broken”), to tide his loyal supporters over until his return in two years time.

Phillip Phillips’ “Home”

Phillip Phillips‘ music video for “Home” is just as the song’s title suggests – homely, humble, and hopeful. In Phillips’ video debut, the singer-songwriter chronicles his ventures as a musician on-the-road, featuring footage from the American Idol tour (which is currently traveling along the east coast – get your tickets here!) interspersed with glory shots of the pensive artist and the great outdoors of America. As a fan who has been following Phillip’s journey since his Idol audition, it is comforting to see how he has retained the same down-to-earth composure through it all. “Home” is a beautiful song which will always remind me of the Summer of 2012!

The reigning Idol champion struck gold with his certified golden coronation single “Home”, which is gaining speed on the digital charts once again, thanks to exposure from NBC’s Olympic coverage of Team USA’s Women’s Gymnastics Team and the theatrical trailer for Clint Eastwood’s upcoming film, “Trouble With The Curve“. With this recent surge in iTunes sales, “Home” should be sprinting towards platinum status in no time!

“Home” will make its television debut on tonight’s broadcast of So You Think You Can Dance on FOX.

Just know you’re not alone, I’m gonna make this place your home.

American Idol Season 11 Live Tour

Concert Review: American Idol Live! Tour 2012 in Seattle

The American Idol journey is far from over after the confetti has been swept away from the finale stage. Every summer, the Top 10 Idols embark on a cross-country summer tour, during which they get to sing for all of the fans who supported them on the show. Without the stress of the competition on their shoulders, the Idols soar to new heights vocally, managing to both impress and gain new fans through the live concerts. This year’s Idols proved to be no exception! After witnessing the American Idol Live! Tour in Seattle on July 18th, I can declare without a doubt that this is one of the strongest Top 10 in years, and is now my second favourite group, right beside the illustrious Season 7 Idols.
