Interview: Actor & Musician Ricky He Talks ‘Freaky Friday’ and ‘Trial and Error’

Multi-talented performer Ricky He is acting and singing (and even dancing) his way into the world of entertainment, and his projects this summer are poised to lead this rising star’s into his big breakout moment.

He has amassed a multitude of credits in television, including The CW’s The Flash, Fox’s Wayward Pines, Freeform’s Beyond, SYFY’s The Magicians, CBC’s The Romeo Section, and his current role on NBC’s Trial and Error alongside Jayma Mays and Kristin Chenoweth.

Next, Ricky merges his two talents together once again on the Disney Channel’s movie-musical of Freaky Friday, based on the namesake musical and the original film that inspired it.

On the eve of the movie-musical’s premier, we chat with Ricky about Freaky Friday, his role on NBC’s Trial & Error, and how he balances his love for acting and music in his work.

The 75th Annual Golden Globes launched the 2018 Awards Season with a bang with powerful statements for social change and a whole lot of girl power.

On the red carpet, the question shifted from “Who are you wearing?” to “Why are you wearing black?” as celebrities and activists arrived in black dresses and black suits in a fashion statement of solidarity for #TimesUp. The movement is intended to show support for those who have experienced sexual harassment, abuse, and discrimination in all industries and to demand safety and equality in all workplaces. By turning the color of mourning into a color of awakening, the #WhyIWearBlack conversation is a step forward in ensuring that the time is now for social change.

Emceed by first-time host Jimmy Fallon, the ceremony began with a lively song-and-dance opener inspired by La La Land, featuring appearances from Nicole Kidman, Amy Adams, Evan Rachel Wood, the kids from Stranger Things, Ryan Reynolds, and  Fallon’s partner-in-crime, Justin Timberlake. With the evening’s soundtrack DJ-ed by Questlove of The Roots, the awards show promised to deliver a cool, contemporary vibe to reflect the diverse make-up of the room full of stars. American Idol Season 15 Top 10

After surviving through the audition rounds, the hell of Hollywood week, and even duets with Idol All Stars, ten Season 15 contestants emerged from the talent-heavy ranks to form American Idol‘s last group of Top 10 finalists.

They are… . Dalton Rapattoni, Olivia Rox, Trent Harmon, La’Porsha Renae, Tristan McIntosh, Sonika Vaid, Gianna Isabella, MacKenzie Bourg, Avalon Young, and Lee Jean. One of these singers is on track to becoming the fifteenth and final winner of American Idol, and the bookend to the woman who legitimized the entire series, the one and only Kelly Clarkson.

Speaking of Clarkson, during this week’s Top 10 night, the original Idol graced the Idol stage one last time to deliver an emotionally riveting performance of “Piece By Piece” from her latest album, making for the perfect parting gift for the show that launched her into superstardom.

Interview: A Star is Born in Eva Bourne

Eva Bourne’s talent was born out of the loving encouragement of her eccentric parents, along with her own knack for creativity and her driven nature. To turn her dreams of becoming an actress into a reality, she made the bold move of dropping out of college in Cranbrook, B.C. and moving to Vancouver to pursue acting. Bourne booked her first role on the TV series, “Psych”, and since then, has guest starred on “Emily Owens M.D.”, “Motive”, and “Falling Skies”, and had recurring roles on “Caprica” and “R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour”. She is best known for her portrayal of Princess Eva on ABC’s “Once Upon A Time”. Beyond television, Bourne has ventured into the big leagues with appearances in the films Words and Pictures and The Big Year, working alongside notable actors such as Clive OwenJuliette BinocheSteve Martin, Owen Wilson, and Rosamund Pike.

Bourne will be next seen as a series regular on Hallmark Channel’s original series, “When Calls The Heart“, in which she plays Clara Stanton, the widowed sister-in-law of Abigail Stanton (played by Lori Loughlin). In an exclusive interview with The Hudsucker, the rising star talks about her new television role, her time on “Once Upon a Time”, and her admiration for Emma Watson.
