Tonight, Glee returned back to primetime with their first new episode of 2014. For these talented aspiring artists, ambition, jealousy, and insecurity rose to an all-time high, pitting friends against friends, Frenemies style. As the old saying goes, “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer”.
The 56th Annual Grammy Awards is music’s biggest event of the year – a day to celebrate the accomplishments of musicians, songwriters, producers, and others in the music industry for their valuable contributions. For 2014, the Grammys made a point of demonstrating how music unleashes us – through creative expression, through artistic transformation, and through musical unity – and remains a truly universal force in our lives.

Congratulations to Amy Poehler on winning her first Golden Globe!
Amy, who co-hosted the 71st annual Golden Globes award ceremony with her partner-in-comedic-crime Tina Fey, won Best Actress in a Television Series (Comedy) for her portrayal of Leslie Knope on NBC’s Parks & Recreation (which was nominated for Best Television Series (Comedy) for the first time this year). It was due time for the funniest lady on television today to receive the recognition she has so long deserved! In a tv-landscape filled with a lot of aggression and negativity, we need heartwarming programs like Parks and lovable characters like the eternally optimistic Leslie Knope to remind us of the good in the world.
The following is one of my favourite Leslie Knope quotations:
“In times of stress or moments of transition, sometimes it can feel like the whole world is closing in on you. When that happens, you should close your eyes, take a deep breath, listen to the people that love you when they give you advice, and remember what really matters. And if you have the ability to go to Paris, by all means, go to Paris.”

It was a dream come true for Kelly Clarkson when she got her two music mentors, Reba McEntire and Trisha Yearwood, to lend their legendary voices on her Christmas album, Wrapped in Red.
If that wasn’t enough, the country superstars made a special guest appearance on Kelly’s Christmas special (titled Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Music Tale) this week to sing their stunning trio version of “Silent Night“.
It was one of the many showstopping moments of the show, which also included performances of songs from Wrapped in Red, a wardrobe of radiant red dresses, cameos from Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Williams, and William Shatner, and Blake Shelton in a ridiculous elf costume.
On December 5th, NBC aired the biggest television event of the holiday season – The Sound of Music Live! This tribute to the beloved stage musical, The Sound of Music, starred Grammy Award-winning recording-artist Carrie Underwood as the iconic Maria and True Blood‘s Stephen Moyer as Captain Von Trapp in the two lead roles, and featured a spectacular supporting cast consisting of Broadway vets Audra McDonald, Laura Benanti, and Christian Borle, and a troupe of young newcomers led by Ariane Rinehart and Michael Campayno.
