Next Issue Canada: The Netflix for Magazines

My magazine hoarding ways started at the age of 7, when I picked up my first issue of Girls Life from the supermarket check-out. Now, my basement contains skyscrapers of all of the magazines I have accumulated ever since, but during the past couple of years, I’ve gradually slowed down with my purchases. While I still collect September issues of Vogue and every magazine that features my favourite celebrities (namely Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood) on the cover, I have put a halt to my regular consumption of print magazines due to many constraints – prices have increased, there’s no room to store them in my house, and I don’t have the time to make the trip over to the store for my monthly haul these days. What can I do to keep indulging my magazine-reading desires?

Cue in Next Issue Canada, the Netflix for magazines.

Introducing Moto X

This month marks three years since I signed my soul away to Apple for the brand new iPhone 4. It was love at first sight, and we never parted. Flash forward to 2013, and now my dear iPhone is beginning to show signs of its old age, as it begins to grow slower and more unresponsive as the days go by. Soon, the sad time will come when we will have to cut ties, and I will have to find a replacement for the role of my mobile sidekick. But which phone will be ‘the one’?

As one of the perks of being a member of Rogers’ Social Insider team, I get to be one of the first to find out about Rogers’ latest product news and launches, and even get to test some of their new (and sometimes exclusive) devices! As my first project for the program, I am trying out Motorola’s new Moto X phone for 60 days. In high school, my first flip phone (remember those?) was a Motorola V551, so with this reunion brought back many fond memories. Maybe this smartphone will pass the test?

Life Lessons Learned From… Jobhunting

School is officially back in session for students everywhere! As a recent graduate, it feels strange to enter September without having a new semester of classes or Co-op to start.  For the first time since marching into Ms. Taylor’s Kindergarten class, I don’t have a scheduled plan laid out ahead of me. Now, I am left to my own authority and free will to make decisions for my future. There’s no telling where I’ll be a few months from now. It’s both exhilarating and terrifying at the same time.

I am now embarking on a journey of Jobhunting – searching for entry level positions, internships, and volunteer work to break into the world of Communications.
