Betty White dying on December 31, 2021, just shy of her 100th birthday, tells you all that you need to know about what this year was like.
Continue reading “2021: A Year in Review”2020 marked the beginning of a brand new decade. We swung into the new twenties with a hope for change, growth, and prosperity on the horizon.
There was an abundance of change, alright, and unlike anything we’ve ever envisioned or experienced before…
Throughout 2019, I fashioned my approach to the first year of my thirties after the spirit of living life with unbridled enthusiasm, as embodied in the whimsically wonderful film 13 Going on 30. Oh, how I wished to be thirty, flirty & thriving!
2019 marks my 13 Going on 30 year, or more like 2019 Going on 30.
There’s something about the whimsy and wonder that the character of Jenna Rink represents that I wish to embody in my 30th year and beyond. I want to get out of my head and start leading more with my heart. I want to have confidence in the ability to feel every emotion. I want to continue to work hard towards my ambitions, but also play hard. I want to live my life in living colour, or in other words, to live with unbridled enthusiasm.
It’s fitting that 2019’s Pantone Color of the Year just so happens to beΒ living coral. This lively shade of pinkish-orange is described as an animating and life-affirming hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge. Coming from the offline world of under the sea, coral, a source of sustenance and shelter, provides an antidote of comfort, optimism, and joy to balance out the prevalence of the online world of digital technology and social media in our daily lives.
I’m looking forward to carrying this thirty, flirty, and thriving energy into all of my pursuits in 2019!
In 2018, I intended to embark on a new path of optimism, confidence, growth, advancement, and reinvention. I vowed to let the good times and good vibes reign free throughout the year.
In many ways, those sentiments rang true as I navigated through 2018 and began writing out this new chapter of my life story.Β From the start, I knew this year was going to be a significant one, as it marked the last year of my twenties. With that brought up expectations to check off a multitude of accomplishments and milestones, from “go on a road trip with friends” (check!) to “start writing a book” (check!). To me, there was no time to waste, and thus, 2018Β really lit a fire within me to do all of the things.
When things didnβt go according to plans or hopes, I would later find that things always ended up working out for the best. The trials, with its subsequent triumphs and errors, of embarking on new experiences led me closer to discovering more about who I am and what I want, which I think is the key to unlocking my sense of happiness. With each hard lesson learnt, I was determined to rise back up every time, which I did with varying ease and difficulty, and prevailed in becoming stronger and better than who I was yesterday.
What have I learned in 2018 that I will carry on to 2019? I’ve learned to have confidence in my self worth, to be bold in standing up for what I deserve, and to have patience with timing, with opportunities, and with people. Because whatever will be, will be (que sera sera). All I need now is some faith and some trust (and a little pixie dust). With that in mind, I’m more ready than ever to go forth and reign my thirties.
As we get ready to say “thank u next” to 2018, Iβd like to share some of the moments that made this year a transformative one…
Throughout the year, Iβve been compiling a pageΒ of memories from 2018 β including notable experiencesΒ I had, concerts I attended, music I listened to, movies I watched, television shows I Β followed, and books I read β and now the time capsule is complete! Check it out here atΒ Scrapbook 2018.
