Carrie Underwood’s “Something In The Water”

Carrie Underwood‘s “Something in the Water” is the first single off of her upcoming compilation album, Greatest Hits: Decade #1, in commemoration of the Country star’s 10 tremendous years in the music industry. This co-written track is a deeply spiritual gospel-country-power pop ballad-esque song about being rescued by a higher power and being redeemed through the strength, joy, and light found through faith. Carrie has always been expressive about her religious beliefs in God, but the song is for anyone who understands the feeling of running out of hope and barely being able to hold onto the end of the rope, only to have a life-changing experience by believing in something bigger than and beyond themselves. “Something in the Water” ends with a powerful closing chorus that incorporates the hymn, “Amazing Grace”, driving home the transformative, uplifting, and inspiring nature of the song.

“Gonna look ahead, no turning back. Live every day, give it all that I have.”

Download “Something in the Water” (from Greatest Hits: Decade #1, due December 9th) NOW on iTunes.

Show Me Your Moves / ‘Cause you ain’t nothin’ until ya do

Crowdfunded by her fans through Indiegogo, Haley Reinhart‘s unique and funky music video for her new single, “Show Me Your Moves” stars the singer as a Cosmic Queen sent to our planet to “enlighten, inspire, and challenge humans to tap into their inner passions”. Tunesday: Live It Up

RIP Penny Lane (2008-2014).

My iPod Classic Penny Lane had a fatal heart attack (or a hard drive failure, in tech terms) last Wednesday. Truthfully, I was really choked when she croaked. I got her back in April 2008 and we were inseparable for six solid years. Penny Lane was with me through it all – good days and bad days, happy times and sad times, the highest highs and the lowest lows, along with every milestone, celebration, trip, and tragedy along the way. She was an essential piece to the formative years of my early twenties, helping me to create the soundtrack to my life with the music that would shape my world. Though the songs still live on, having to say goodbye to her was a hard thing to do. As I move into this new era with Sir Duke (my new iPod Classic), I look forward to making more music memories while still treasuring the past. Thank you, Penny Lane. You’re forever in my ears and in my eyes.

In tribute to my late friend, here’s a handful of new tunes I’ve been listening to lately…
